Obituary for Eleanor G. Hollasch

Eleanor Gloria Hollasch (nee Myrick) passed away in her sleep at Hospice Wells House at Beechwood in Amherst, NY on Friday, September 15, 2017 at the age of 94. She was born in Franklinville, NY, on March 28, 1923, the daughter of Fred O. Myrick and Doris K. Myrick (nee Kenfield). Known in later life as GG to her great grandchildren and others, Eleanor was an outgoing and caring individual and a member of the First United Methodist Church in North Tonawanda, NY. Active in round dance and square dance circles, she was also a longtime member of the Irving Club. She worked for many years in the cafeteria of North Tonawanda High School and for a time as an election worker. She enjoyed gardening and travel. Kurt and Eleanor attended elder hostels. Eleanor cared lovingly in her North Tonawanda home for her mother for many years until Doris’ passing. She was wife of the late Kurt Otto Hollasch, mother of Kurt Dale (Barbara) Hollasch and Oren (Lynne) Hollasch, grandmother of Kurt Austin Hollasch (Carrie Huang), Kristen (Joseph) Anastasi, Kyle (Pamela) Hollasch, and Lauren Hollasch. Great grandchildren include Sydney Hollasch, Samantha Hollasch, Sofia Hollasch, Katie Anastasi, Lily Anastasi, Austin Hollasch, Anna Hollasch, and Grant Hollasch. Surviving first cousins include Sharon (Dale) Hartlieb, and June Kenfield. The late Merrill Bull and the Bull family were dear friends. A memorial service will be held at the Blocher Home, 135 Evans Street, Williamsville, NY, 14221 on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 2 p.m. Memorials may be made in Eleanor’s name to Beechwood/Blocher Foundation, 2235 Millersport Highway, Getzville, NY 14068-1297. Arrangements are by Fretthold Funeral Home, where memories can be shared on their Memory Wall.
